Columbia Alumni Winemaker Dinner Series
We are pleased to announce the second event in this series, an evening with Greg Ahn’05BUS, President and Founder, Alcohol-by-Volume Wine Company. Greg’s vineyards include Folktale, Le Mistral, Aviary, De Amis, and Golden.
Join us at La Pizza Fresca for an evening exploring the wines of Arroyo Secco AVA in Monterey county. The Winemakers Collective has a great menu prepared to pair alongside Greg’s Portolio of exceptional wines – 8 wines over three courses of traditionally prepared Italian food.
Greg Ahn’05BUS
Greg is a local winemaker in Monterey, and in 2015, he and Jonathan White acquired 15 acres of estate vines formerly known as Chateau Julien Wine Estate. With the interest of expanding their portfolio of quality driven-wines, Greg and Jonathan purchased the Le Mistral, is a small winery located in the central coast which specializes in Rhone grape varietals. Sabrine Rodems is the winemaker and has been tending these vines since the early 1990’s. Greg and Jonathan are committed to sustainable winemaking practices as well as farming organically. They seek a rich and lush style for their wines, reflective of the warm and coastal climate of the Carmel area. In addition to the wines, Folktale is a thriving atmosphere where local artists and musicians have a space to work and explore. “Folktale was inspired by the idea that in every great bottle of wine, there is a story. It is filled with uniqueness of place, a year of sun and rain, and the art and craft of winemaking. The story is about our people, our guests, and our passion.”
The Columbia Alumni Winemakers Collective is a new program developed by the Columbia Alumni Association as a professional resource for Columbians in the wine industry.
One of the collective’s pilot programs this year is the Columbia Alumni Winemaker Dinner Series, to be held throughout the year in New York City. The dinners will feature guided pairings led by the winemakers themselves, and are offered in conjunction with our partners at New York Vintners.
