Has Putin Won the Post-Cold War? A Conversation with Columbia University Professor Timothy Frye

Get behind the headlines and delve deeper into Russia’s motives and global objectives with a discussion between Professor Timothy Frye, Chairman of Columbia’s Political Science Department and former Director of the Harriman Institute, and PCNY Board of Governors and Club member Christine Loomis P’72.  The conversation will focus on Russian and Eurasian politics and political economy, including autocracy and corruption. In addition, Professor Frye will share his extensive knowledge and experience to provide insight of what to expect from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Professor Frye is the Director of Research at Moscow’s Higher School of Economics. He is an editor of Post-Soviet Affairs and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Additionally, he has consulted for the World Bank, EBRD, USAID, and the Eurasia Group. His latest book is Property Rights and Property Wrongs, How Power, Institutions and Norms Shape Economic Conflict in Russia. Dr. Frye received his BA from Middlebury College and his MA and Ph.D. from Columbia University.

Christine Loomis is a Russian specialist who has spent 12 years working in Moscow.  She received her BA from Princeton and MA from Columbia in Russian Studies. Loomis serves on the Board of Governors at the Princeton Club and co-chairs the Programs Committee at the Club.
