Museum of Jewish Heritage Tour

The group is invited to meet prior to the tour for an a la carte lunch at the Pier A Harbor House located at 22 Battery Place at 11:30AM. After lunch, the group will walk to the Museum of Jewish Heritage for a guided tour of the museum’s Core Exhibition located at 36 Battery Place. This docent led tour will tell the story of 20th and 21st century Jewish life from the perspective of those who lived it.

Through a rotating collection of 25,000 pieces that includes artifacts, photographs, and documentary films, the Core Exhibition places the Holocaust in the larger context of modern Jewish history. It is organized into three chronological sections: Jewish Life: A Century Ago; The War Against the Jews; and Jewish Renewal—each told on a separate floor. The Core Exhibition is housed in a remarkable six-sided building—symbolic of the six points of the Star of David and the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

After the tour, the group is welcome to view other exhibits at the museum, including Stitching History From the Holocaust and Seeking Justice: The Leo Frank Case Revisited. The restaurant and museum may be accessed by the 4, 5 subway or the M20, M9 bus. For attendees that wish to drive to the museum, GGMC at 2 South End Avenue and Quick Park at 70 West Street offer a discount with museum validation.
