New York Botanical Gardens Tour of Frida Kahlo–Art, Garden, Life

The Frida Kahlo–Art, Garden, Life exhibit re-imagines Kahlo’s studio and garden from her lifelong home, Casa Azul (“Blue House”), in Mexico City. This exhibition is the first to examine Frida Kahlo’s keen appreciation for the beauty and variety of the natural world, as evidenced by her home and garden as well as the complex use of plant imagery in her artwork. The exhibit will feature native plants from Mexico and a rare display of more than a dozen of Kahlo’s original drawings and paintings. This will be the first solo presentation of Frida Kahlo’s work in New York City in more than 25 years.

Please meet the group promptly at 11:00AM at the Leon Levy Visitors Center in the Botanical Garden. The guided tour will last one hour. Following the tour, join the group for an a la carte lunch at the newly renovated Hudson Garden Grill. After lunch, attendees may continue to enjoy the Botanical Garden.

For members taking the train from Grand Central Terminal, please take the 10:25am train via the Harlem Line to the Botanical Garden Station where a guide will be waiting for you. For members driving to the Botanical Garden, please enter at the Conservatory Gate located on Kazimiroff Blvd, just opposite the Fordham University entrance. The parking fee for the Botanical Garden is $12.00.
