Fellow Young Alums,
The Young Alumni Committee produced a variety of events this past October to appeal to all tastes. We hosted a billiards night for those with a competitive streak, an art auction event and a fashion panel for those who just can't get enough culture, and a fall beer tasting for those who just can't get enough of . . . something apart from culture. Thanks to all members who attended our events.
Currently, we are planning a bartending demonstration and our annual speakeasy-themed party. If you have any ideas for young alumni programming or want to join the committee, email any committee member or, better yet, join us for a drink at the bar and grill.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Jay D. Rao, YAC Co-Chair, Law '08

Testimonial:
“I joined the Columbia University Club of New York because I was excited by the opportunities to learn from older alumni and meet other young alumni. Later, I joined the Young Alumni Committee (YAC) in order to become more involved in the Club. I discovered a warm and vibrant young alumni community containing members with diverse interests. While serving on the YAC, I forged friendships that make the Columbia Club a “home away from home” for me today.
The YAC organizes social, cultural and professional events for the Club’s young alumni. . The YAC represents the interests of young alumni in the Club’s administration and the larger Ivy club community. We organize events ranging from wine tastings to museum tours, from billiards nights to lectures on the economy. Furthermore, we hold events with other Ivy clubs to present young alumni with the opportunity to create an expanded circle of friends around the city. Most importantly, we have fun.
The more you participate and meet other members with similar interests, the more value you will gain from your membership. I encourage all young alumni to visit our website often for upcoming YAC events. Also, feel free to email me or any YAC co-chair for information regarding the YAC. Or, even better, grab a drink with us at the bar.”

Other Testimonials:
“I joined the Columbia University Club shortly after graduating Columbia College with the goal of meeting and socializing with fellow alumni. One of the first events that I attended was organized by the Young Alumni Committee, which was where I met the Committee co-chairs. They described the Committee’s goals and the duties of its members. Later, I became a part of the Committee.
Participating in the Young Alumni Committee’s work has been very rewarding. In addition to meeting many interesting members of the Columbia community, I have had the opportunity to direct and participate in several successful Committee events. The diversity, variety of interests, collegiate atmosphere and sense of fun on the Committee has greatly enhanced my Club experience.”
Christian Gluck, CC ‘08
“The first time that I came to the Columbia University Club was for a Cinco de Mayo mixer. I didn’t know anyone on my arrival, but met several young alums within the first few minutes of the event. I continued to meet many members throughout the night. I felt welcome immediately. A month later, I was asked to join the Young Alumni Committee. When I began to come to meetings, the youthful energy radiated throughout the room. I was excited to hear what other members were planning and wanted to plan an event myself. Shortly after joining the Young Alumni Committee, I helped to plan a mixer between members of the Columbia Club and the Penn Club. I am now involved in planning two other events in the near future. Since joining the Club and Young Alumni Committee, I have made many new friends very quickly. Joining the Club was one of the best decisions I have ever made.”
