Pakistan’s Former Prime Minister and international banker, Shaukat Aziz has co-authored a new book titled From Banking to the Thorny World of Politics with Sunday Times journalist Anna Mikhailova. The book provides an insightful and riveting account of what it was like to join General Musharraf’s military government, as well as an analysis of the complex relationships between Pakistan and the United States, India, Afghanistan and China.

Shaukat Aziz served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2004 to 2007 and as the Finance Minister of Pakistan from 1999 to 2004. During his tenure as the Finance Minister, Aziz steered one of the biggest economic turnarounds in recent history by rescuing Pakistan from bankruptcy. Prior to government, he assumed various leadership positions at Citibank building an impressive career in global finance with roles in Pakistan, Greece, United States, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Philippines, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. Aziz served as a senior executive and President of Citi Private Bank in New York. Aziz graduated from Gordon College Rawalpindi in 1967 and earned an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration at the University of Karachi in 1969.
