Dr. Darby Bonomi
Earning her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from California School of Professional Psychology in 1991 and her psychoanalytic degree in 1999 from the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, Dr. Bonomi had a successful clinical psychology practice focused on women and adolescent girls for many years before shifting her work to sport and high performance settings. With over 30 years of experience helping clients thrive under pressure, Dr. Bonomi blends broad clinical expertise with real-world insight. Her approach draws on neuroscience, developmental and performance psychology, and strategic coaching to foster clarity, resilience, and purpose in demanding environments. Her writing has been featured in many magazines, including The Plaid Horse, InStride, Practical Horseman and Eventing Nation. Dr. Bonomi’s recent book, Unshrinkable: How Strong Women Criticize, Diminish and Thwart Themselves and How to Stop, was published by Cheval Press in March.

Philippa Portnoy (BC ’86 CBS ’90)
Co-Founder of Launchbreak, a worldwide online professional networking community to connect athletes.
Philippa has a BA from Barnard College and an MBA from Columbia Business School. She competed and served as co-captain of Columbia University’s women’s tennis team. She was the first female president of Columbia’s alumni athletics club. She also co-founded the Columbia Athletics Women’s Leadership Council to support and mentor young women athletes. She was named one of the 50 most influential female athletes in Columbia’s 50th Anniversary of Title IX.
She also previously worked for ten years at Citibank in the Aviation Finance Group.
She has been a Barnard trustee and helped to found the Barnard Athena Center which is dedicated to building female leaders.
She has triplet sons who competed in college athletics, so she has a deep understanding of the current demands of college athletes.
Philippa enjoys running, tennis, and fitness. She is an animal lover and adores her dog, Kipper.
