Princeton Club Young Alumni Committee presents Cutting-edge Wines from Germany
In this session, we will explore German wines, which are among the most distinctive in the world. Even though the country is a top ten producer globally, German wines have remained somewhat under the radar. Partly because they are mostly consumed in Germany but also because of the dreaded umlaut, which can be alienating. We will cut through the umlaut and the nomenclature to arrive at crisp, delicate wines that pair beautifully with food.
Join us for a unique tasting of seven German wines including compelling examples of the country’s signature grape, Riesling, as well as other varieties such as Pinot Noir. Red wine from Germany? Yes, it’s happening more now than before thanks to climate change. Historically, German vineyards have been on the Northern limits of vineyards, but climate change is transforming winemaking in Germany today.
This session will be led by Tyler Colman, Ph.D., author of two wine books, and a wine educator at New York University. Colman writes the popular wine blog, DrVino.com.
