SOLD OUT — Tour of the Armory Show at 100: Modern Art and Revolution at the New-York Historical Society

This event is sold out.

The New York Armory Show of 1913, officially know as The International Exhibition of  Modern Art, changed the face of American art. The first of its kind in the country, The Armory show introduced the American public to European avant-garde painting and sculpture on a large scale. The impact of the 1913 show can still be felt today.

Included in the New-York Historical Society exhibition will be seventy-five works by artists such as Duchamp, Picasso, Cezanne, and Matisse. The American and European works selected represent a scandalous range of early twentieth-century art. The exhibition (which will not travel) is an exploration of how the Armory Show inspired seismic shifts in American culture, politics, and Society.

After our docent-led tour we will walk to Isabella’s for lunch.

Those who wish to may return to the museum to gaze at the many fascinating objects on display.
